We believe that strong communities depend on strong local journalism. The Shiawassee Signal was founded on the conviction that residents of Owosso and Shiawassee County deserve accurate, thorough, and fair reporting on the issues that directly affect their lives — from city council decisions and school board votes to local business developments and community events.

We are editorially independent. Our coverage decisions are made by our journalists, not by advertisers, political interests, or outside investors. We do not accept paid content or sponsored journalism disguised as news.
